Edgewater Mall:           

Biloxi, MS – Edgewater Mall has a carousel again.  After a few days of assembly and set up, it is now open for business in front of Books-A-Million.

This beautiful carousel, built in Venice, Italy in the 1800’s fashion, is completely hand-crafted throughout.  The murals are hand painted by the Venetian artists Grazia and Lino.  Molds have been carefully reproduced from the original Phillip Schneider German carousel constructed in 1898, which was turned by real horses until 1928.  This carousel was brought over in thousands of pieces by ship from Venice and reassembled in the United States. 

The floors are Brazilian oak, the mechanisms are German, the horses’ tails are real, and the 570 lights and intricate hand-painted Venetian murals create the spell of romantic enchantment.  It is a carousel because it revolves counter clockwise; Merry Go Rounds revolve clockwise.
