Police say they've busted a forgery and fraud ring operating in D'Iberville and Biloxi.
Authorities arrested three Florida men Wednesday on charges of forgery and possession of instruments with intent to defraud.
According to Biloxi police Edward Charles Thompson, 58, Demetrius Price, 38, and Torian Williams, 47, were arrested after allegedly recruiting local people to cash checks using their real names and identification.
The suspects reportedly paid recruits a small portion of the proceeds from the cashed checks.
Police say they expect many of the checks to be returned by the banks within the next few weeks. Each of the men have extensive criminal histories and two are wanted in Florida for the same charges.
The suspects are being held at the Harrison County Jail with a $200,000 bond for each.
